SoilMATs – Soil Meiofauna Advanced Taxonomy school

Neglected soil fauna such as Tardigrada, Rotifera, and Nematoda are critical to ecosystems but understudied due to taxonomic impediments. This project bridges this gap by transferring knowledge from experts to emerging taxonomists, establishing a support network for them, accelerating taxonomy transformation through a shared pipeline, and refining taxonomic training within the TETTRIs framework. An advanced taxonomy school will be set integrating online and hands-on learning (workshops, tutorials, equipments & protocols training, field & laboratory activities). Training will occur at two levels: local trainers will receive the in-depth TETTRIs training, then teach SoilMATs scholars, reinforcing their knowledge with a learning-through-teaching approach.

Do you want to join the Soil Meiofauna Advanced Taxonomy school - SoilMATs? The call closed on 20 December 2024. Applicants received responses on January 2025.

The selected trainees can download the vademecum, which contains key information about the online training and the three face-to-face sessions, and the documents they need to provide for institutional paperwork, at the following link. A FAQ section will be made available soon.
